Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Its a shame to have a fully functional printer (HP 895cse)  that cant be used with a 10 year old computer that has been upgraded to Window 7...Would like to use this printer with limited  capabilities so I am looking for a printer driver that will allow me to.

Hi:

See if this works...download and save the second file (64 bit) on the list at the link below....

http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=HP%20895cse

Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the printer driver file you downloaded, and select 7-Zip from the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  And let it extract the file into its folder name.

Once that is done, do the normal steps to add your printer using the add printer wizard.  When asked to install the driver, click on Have Disk, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created>prnhp001, and select the HP DeskJet 895Cse printer from the list, and see if the driver installs that way.

First question is the name of the file I am supposed to download and save in the catalogue entitled

"Windows 7,Windows 8,Windows 8.1 and later drivers,Windows Server 2008 R2,Windows Server 2012,Windows Server 2012 R2 and later drivers"?

Second question is....Do I install 7-Zip in the "Programs"  directory or the "Programs (x86)" directory?

Third question is....Once I download the correct file (from question #1) and right click on it, and click on 7-zip,  I get multiple choice dropdown....

"Add to archive"

"compress and email"

"Add to Microsoft update catalog.....HP895.7z"

"compress microsoft update catalog.....HP895.7z and email"

"Addt to microsoft update cataolg.......HP895.zip"

"Compress microsof update catalog...HP895.zip and email"

Which one do i click on???

Now im wondering if I am even in the right ballpark.  Sorry to be such a neophyte but I do appreciate the help

You're very welcome.

Yes you want the 2nd file listed on the link.

Windows 7,Windows 8,Windows 8.1 and later drivers,Windows Server 2008 R2,Windows Server 2012,Windows Server 2012 R2 and later drivers

For your second question, when you right click on the above file you download, there will be an option to Extract to:

That is what you want, or you can use the Extract Here option.
