LaserJet 6P
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi, I can no longer print from my laptop to my LaserJet 6P. I was able to do this until a few months ago.

I was using a USB port connected via a converter cable to the parallel port of the printer.

It could be that the failure is due to an update to Windows that I accepted, or that could  be just a coincidence.

I've tried updating the driver, used the Windows printer troubleshooter, reinstalled the driver, reconfigured the USB port (though if I've done that wrong, then maybe I've created an extra problem now) and all sorts of attempts, but now nothing even appears as waiting in the print queue.

I know it's an ancient printer, but it's rock solid, reliable and cheap to run. I see know reason why it should suddenly and arbitrarily be made obsolete at the whim of Microsoft and HP.

Can anyone offer some advice?
