MacOS Catalina not compatible with OfficeJet Pro 6960
10-22-2019 09:50 PM
I find it hard to believe that HP wouldn't have everything in place to ensure their printers & scanners work with MacOS 10.15 Catalina when the update is released. I've spent the better part of 2 days including 2 hours on Chat with HP Support only to be told that there are no drivers for Catalina and no timeframe for their release. When will HP let my printer work with Catalina?

MacOS Catalina not compatible with OfficeJet Pro 6960

@gdchampagne
Hello,
HP is currently working with Apple to restore HP Easy Scan functionality in macOS Catalina.
MacOS Catalina does not currently support scanning with HP Easy Scan. Scan using Apple Image Capture as a workaround.
For more information, please go to HP Printers - HP Easy Scan Is Not Currently Supported in macOS Catalina.
You can also use HP Smart to scan or print with your printer.
You can also use VueScan x64 but the disadvantage is:
Note that the files you create will have a watermark and this watermark can not be deleted. VueScan is a paid application that is why you would have a watermark on the created documents. The download version is a demo version.

The Scan to Computer feature will not work as well now. It is related to the same problem as HP Easy Scan. With VueScan, the Scan to Computer feature will not be available.
MacOS Catalina now supports 32-bit software, drivers, and applications because some older printers and drivers are not updated to 64-bit (this only applies to HP Easy Scan for HP printers).
So macOS Catalina only supports 64-bit applications, software and drivers.
I think the HP Expert Pro @IronBadger can tell you more about this than I can.
Do not hesitate to contact us if needed.

MacOS Catalina not compatible with OfficeJet Pro 6960

Update: on Thursday morning October 24, out of desperation, I retried installing my OfficeJet Pro 6968 onto my MacBook Pro running macOS 10.15 Catalina, and much to my surprise it actually worked! HP must have done something because now I can use my 6968 for printing and scanning with my MacBook Pro.
