My printer stopped printing from my Mac. It works fine on my Windows PC.

My printer just stopped printing from my Macbook.  It works fine from my Windows PC.  The printer utility sees the printer and says it's online and I can even print test pages and configurations, but when I try to print a document, the print queue says that the printer is disconnected or no longer exists.

I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple Care and we reset the printer system and reinstalled the software and other stuff.  We were able to print a document from the Mac over Ethernet, so it's something to do with WiFi.  

As I said, it worked for years and just stopped working.  I suspect an automatic update, but I'm also suspicious of the latest driver.  I also did update the printer firmware.

I know it's an old printer, but it's served me well.

Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then delete the printer.

Click the Plus sign, and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint

Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Try to print.
