OfficeJet4650 Direct Won't Print Anything, no issues previously

HP OfficeJet 4650
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use Direct Wifi connection from my laptop to print. Usually it works fine, but a couple days ago when I tried to Print color, it simply wouldn't. There was simply no color option presented. I looked in all the places it was said to be. It simply did not exist. So I attempted to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. The Printer now will not print. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and all software 6 times now, as every troubleshooter provided can detect no issues. Test pages will not print, except for internal test pages. There are no connectivity problems. I broke down and used a USB cord, and everything worked fine. But as I only have 2 USB ports on my laptop, this is not ideal. This seems like a HP software issue, but does anyone have a fix?

@kmansimmonS

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Betty! I'm afraid that did absolutely nothing to help me. Now the Printer refuses to be acknowledged as a valid printer in my "Printers and Scanners" Listing. It varies in problems, from not being able to be detected at all, despite being connected to it via WiFi, to be able to be a valid printer but claiming no drivers are installed, despite literally every driver being installed. The Print and Scan Doctor continues to claim everything is working fine, despite ALL evidence to the contrary. It recommends I download the software that I just downloaded 14 seconds ago, only this time it does so by downloading from the Printer. Then it requests I connect to a new printer, despite being connected to the printer. Upon trying to connect to a new printer, when I select the printer I'm connected to (or even if I'm not connected to it) it claims it cannot connect.

USB works perfectly, as ever.

@kmansimmonS

Update the firmware for the printer.

Click here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4650-all-in-one-printer-series/5447930/document/c0...

Restart the printer

Then, let's restore network settings to default settings

1. From the Home screen, touch Wireless and then touch Settings.

2. Touch Restore network defaults and then follow the on-screen instruction.

Now try connecting the printer back to the network.

Keep me posted, how it goes!
