Printer Failure

HP Officejet 7110

Hi All,

I just bought 2 new cartridges (Magenta and Yellow) to replace the low ink of my HP Officejet 7710 printer. Once I installed, the printer unable to detect the new Magenta ink but no issue with the Yellow ink. I tried on/off the printer, took out and put in the ink back and reset the printer, but to no avail. I couldnt find any guide to take out the printhead, so i just i tried to put in back the 'old' magenta ink, and it is able to detect but with warning due to the low ink.


But when i try to take it out and put back to the new magenta ink, the problem came back. Appreciate some advise on this. Im not sure what else I can do. Thanks

@DinSu, Welcome to the HP Support Community!


This seems like an issue with the New Magenta ink cartridge or the Printhead of the printer.


Reset the printer

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

Perform Step 13 from this document.

Also, use a lint-free cloth to clean the copper contacts on the ink cartridge.

Note: The printhead on this printer is Non-Removable.
