I have set up my printer and successfully printed a test page with USB cable connection.  When I try to print a saved document, the page will not print.  It is trying to fax the page instead of printing.  Do I have something set wrong on my computer?

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer and is setup via a USB connection. I read that when you try to print a document from your computer, the page will not print and it tries to fax the page instead of printing.

This usually happens if the default printer is selected as a "fax" printer in Windows. I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Open Control Panel>> Hardware and Sound>> Devices and Printers.
  • You will see the list of printers installed in your computer.
  • Please ensure that you select your printer which does not have the"fax" prefix on it. Right click on HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer and select "Set as default printer."

Also, before you print from your computer, please check that the printer name appears without the prefix word "fax."

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂
