New User Queston:  When I scan to email I get two emails.  One with my document and a second one that has a pdf attached but the pdf is a scan of a blank page.  Why the second email?  How do I make it stop doing that?

Hello, @SirMarkofATX – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for engaging in the HP Forums! I see by your post that you are having issues while using the scan to email feature on your Officejet printer. I will certainly do my best to help you fix this issue!

I would suggest you setup the email profile via printer EWS page as suggested below. Try the steps below:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • From the EWS, click the Scan tab.
  • Click Scan to Email Setup.
  • Click Outgoing Email Profile, click New, and then enter the email address you intend to use with this profile.
  • Enter a display name that will appear on the printer's control panel to identify this email profile.
  • Enter or confirm the correct SMTP server and SMTP port information.
  • If you typically have to enter a username and password to log into your email account, you will want to enter this information into the email authentication fields, and then click Next.
  • Enter a security PIN to restrict access to this email profile, if desired.
  • Set the size for email files and specify Auto CC, if desired.
  • Click Save or Save and test to complete the profile.
  • Restart the printer once done and check.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

I am trying to set up my "scan to email" option and I read your instructions about getting the IP address and entering it into the address bar. Which I've done on all browsers and 3 computers however I keep getting these messages on the three browsers I've tried:   (1)  "A secure connection is required. Click to enable." but it never stops spinning. ...... or I get this message: (2)  Network connection error. Check network and try again .........or this message: (3) Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from ((my IP)) (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). Learn more

And I don't see any tips on how to get past these.  All 3 of my laptops can't seem to get past them. Tips????

I sat down to duplicate the issue and send you the screenshots that you requested.  I am unable to duplicate the problem.  Please consider this matter closed.  I will contact you if the issue reappears.

Thank you for getting back to me.

I do appreciate your help,

Yes, he asked for screenshots.  When I sat down to duplicate the issue and create screenshots I could not recreate the problem.  Don't know how to explain it but the problem resolved itself for me.
