Product: Officejet Pro 8600 all-in-one N911a
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I recently reloaded my Mac OS.  Previously the Scanner was shown on the Printer status window.  After reloading the HP software, I no longer have access to the Scanner.  How do I get them both on the same window?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the scanning issue. 

 

To better assist you - 

 

1.) How is the printer connected - wired or wireless? 

2.) Are you able to print? 

 

While you respond to that, let's try updating your Mac to macOS 10.15.3 using these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

 

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

I installed the HP Smart App which lets me access the scanner.

 

It took for every to find the Smart App.  I didn't realize it was on the Apple Store.
