4650 officejet wireless printer, purchased in 2017 recently started having issues with the display screen fading out to the point that it cannot be read after the printer has been on for a period of time. It can only be viewed again after turning the printer off and on again. I am now also unable to print at times from my laptop.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Have you tried connecting the Printer directly to the wall outlet?

 

Are you able to make a copy?  When you have the screen up, go to the setup menu, go to tools and then Restore Factory Defaults.
