Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Because my HP 5255 goes offline everyday I assigned a new (static) IP address to it 192.168.1.2.

I then had to change the IP address on my WIN 10 HP laptop to match that. It works fine.

Next I tried to change the IP address in my WIN 7 HP laptop to also match the printer. I added the new port, but to "finish" it off, you have to click on "APPLY". However, "APPLY" never gets highlighted and I cannot click on it.

Can anyone hel;p?

@glukas, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Make sure the IP address is entered correctly on the Win 7 PC. This is not an issue with the printer as it could be added on the Win 10 PC.

Login as administrator on the Win 7 PC.

Check for any pending software updates.

 

Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top) 
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing.
