HP Smart Scanner
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I wonder why a scan to flash drive at 300 dpi is only 281 KB and the same document scanned with HP Smart program, same 300 dpi becomes 25,178 KB?  Just asking.  Even if I lowered the dpi to 75 dpi, the file was 1,671 KB.  I like the features of the HP Smart scan because I can manipulate the results, but the resulting size is just not worth it.

Hi,

What Compression do you select from the HP Smart app?

Selecting a High compression from the drop-down will result in smaller file size.

How many pages are scanned to result in such a file size?

The first file was 7 pages, so I just picked another one that is only 3 pages.

Sending it to a flash drive at 300 dpi, the file is 65KB.

There does not appear to be a way to set the compression.

Using HP Smart scanner program:

300dpi low compression = 8210KB

300dpi medium comp = 7849KB

300dpi high comp= 7873KB

200dpi low comp = 3542KB

200dpi medium comp = 3438KB

200dpi high comp = 3519KB

So looks like sending to flashdrive is the way to go.

For some reason, I can send files wirelessly to my printer, but not from scanner to computer, which is why I thought the Smart program was going to solve it.
