HP Officejet 6700 Premium
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HP Officejet 6700 Premium  finally gave up the ghost and was replaced.  However, there seems to be no way  of simply identifying all the installed software that came with it, e.g. the "Print and Scan Doctor".

Can you please tell me which products to uninstall?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Andy

Hi @AndyK_ex_SSE,

Thanks for visiting the HP community. A very good day to you! I read the post regarding issues with uninstalling the printer software. I will be delighted to assist you here.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you check programs and features in control panel for the printer listings?

For now, try these steps:

Then uninstall printer drivers by following these steps:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right-click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

This should do the trick for you.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

So far so good - these deleted thank you.  However, I still have lots of HP software from that date which does not appear to have been loaded with my other HP printers more recently purchased.  In the "Apps and Features" I still have old entries for:

HP Utility Center

HP Update

HP System Event Utility

HP Support Solutions Framework

HP Support Assistant

HP Simple Pass

HP Registration Service

HP FWUpdateED02

HP Connected Music (Meridian - Installer)

HP Connected Music (Meridian - Player)

These all seem like PUPs to me - can I simply Uninstall these without impacting my later HP printers?

Hi @AndyK_ex_SSE,

I reviewed the post completely. I thank you for your quick response. You've displayed great patience, excellent technical competence and a superb temperament to get the issue resolved. Kudos to you for a job well done🙂 I am really happy for you that things are back on track.

Now coming to answering your question.

  • HP Utility Center
  • HP Update
  • HP System Event Utility
  • HP Support Solutions Framework
  • HP Support Assistant
  • HP Simple Pass
  • HP Registration Service
  • HP FWUpdateED02

Each one of these applications are important for the smooth operation of your computer. It is required to check warranty information, update drivers and make other related drivers like touchpad and other software work correctly which include windows also. Please don't uninstall any of these.

If you don't have an HP connected account and don't use the connected music player then you could uninstall these 2 apps from control panel.

  • HP Connected Music (Meridian - Installer)
  • HP Connected Music (Meridian - Player)

Hope this answers your question. Trust me I've done all I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. It has been a great experience to work with you and an absolute privilege to share this platform with you.
