After upgrading my OfficeJet 8620 to the latest available firmware, the Officejet no longer sleeps. The printer's touch screen is constantly on.
I tried to go into Eco menu and set the time to five, ten and 15 minutes to no avail.
I tried to restart the pritner by turn it off then on by using the power button and even tried to unplug the power cable to no avail.
Connections are: Ethernet cable and telephone/fax cable. But these never affected the printer's Eco mode before the upgrade to firmware 1640B.
I tried to look for the previous firmware version to revert to an earlier state but the firmware isn't availbe for download from the Driver and Software download page.
Help.

Hi,
A such will likely occuor due to a fax phone line condition.
Please unplug the fax cable from the back port of the printer and follow for any change, may the printer enter into sleep mode once not connected to a phone line?
Please let me know the results, as well be sure to clarify your phone line type (e.g DSL, VOIP, PBX, etc.)

My telephone/fax is coming through a voip system. I use the line for voice and for fax.
After following your suggestion, I disconnected the line, the OfficeJet 8620 did go into sleep mode.
A coworker forgot to make sure my telehone handset was properly seated first. It appears that this solved the problem.
