Hi @jmacgeorge,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're describing suggests a communication problem between the printer and the HP Instant Ink service, despite the printer being properly connected to the internet. Here's how to resolve the issue:

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Check Printer Connection:

  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report and a Network Configuration Page (if not already done).
  • Confirm:
    • The printer's SSID matches your router's WiFi name.
    • Signal strength is strong (greater than 70%).
    • There are no error messages.

Restart Devices:

  • Power off your printer, router, and computer.
  • Wait 2 minutes and turn them back on in this order:
    1. Router
    2. Printer
    3. Computer

Check Internet Connection:

  • Make sure your internet is stable and not experiencing latency or interruptions.
  • Verify that the router’s firewall or security settings aren't blocking communication with HP servers.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Use the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel to check for and install any available firmware updates.
  • Outdated firmware can prevent proper communication with Instant Ink servers.

Re-enable Web Services:

  • Open the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Enter your printer's IP address (found on the Network Configuration Page) into a web browser.
  • Re-enable Web Services and ensure you see the ePrint/Instant Ink status as "Connected".

Log into HP Instant Ink:

  • Go to HP Instant Ink and sign in to your account.
  • Check if the printer is listed as connected under your account.

Re-register Printer:

  • If the printer still shows as "not connected," remove it from your Instant Ink account:
    • Log in to the Instant Ink portal.
    • Unenroll and then re-enroll the printer.
  • Follow the setup instructions provided.

Factory Reset the Printer (if necessary):

  • If the issue persists, reset the printer to factory defaults:
    • Access Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
    • Reconnect to WiFi and repeat the enrollment process.

I hope this helps.

I eventually had to have HP access the printer thru my PC they found there is a defective chip probably from hurricane power surges. after about 8 tries they got it working. They said it will break again so I enrolled in the all in one Plan and already have my new printer with doc feed and everything i needed. 14.99 a month no worries as long as i pay. New printer was no upfront only part of the 14.99 include ink I free support i considered it a deal since i can't go even 1 day without printer
