have had this problem for 2 weeks and talked to CS, chatted on line, followed instructions for multiple options to resolve. Printer and mac and router are several years old and i've not had this problem before.

Hi @emmalane1205,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP 8135 printer connecting to the Wi-Fi but not to the internet. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this issue:

  1. Check Your Network Connection:

    • Make sure that your Wi-Fi network is working properly. Test the internet connection on another device (like a phone or computer) to ensure there's internet access.

  2. Restart Devices:

    • Restart your printer, router, and computer. This can often resolve temporary connectivity issues.

  3. Verify Wi-Fi Network:

    • Ensure that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Sometimes printers may connect to a neighboring network with the same SSID.

  4. Printer's Network Settings:

  5. Firmware Updates:

    • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer. Updating the firmware https://support.hp.com/us-en can resolve known bugs or connectivity issues.

  6. Router Settings:

    • Check your router's settings to ensure that it isn't blocking the printer. Also, verify that MAC filtering is not enabled, or if it is, make sure the printer's MAC address is added to the list of allowed devices.

  7. Check for Conflicts:

    • Ensure there are no IP address conflicts in the network settings. Assign a static IP to the printer to prevent this issue.

  8. Network Reset:

    • Perform a network settings reset on your printer. This will clear previous network settings and allow you to set them up again.

  9. Distance and Obstructions:

    • Ensure the printer is within a reasonable range of the router without many obstructions for a better signal.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
