HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 All-in-One Printer

My 8725 printed properly this morning.  I went to scan and it kept spinning until I got the message it could not scan.  It offered diagnosis.  I ran the diagnosis and it found no problem.  Following the instructions I hid the 8725 and went to reconnect and it now can not find the unit.  I have gone from bad to worse.  Both my laptop and the printer are on the same wifi.  Turned both off and on several times.  Need help past the basics.  Thanks

@JohnF56, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your 8725 Scanning and connecting problems!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since you’ve already restarted both your laptop and printer and made sure they’re on the same Wi-Fi, let’s try a few deeper troubleshooting steps to get things back on track.

Restart HP Print & Scan Service

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

Scroll down to HP Print and Scan Service (if available).

Right-click and Restart it.

Reset the Printer's Network Settings

Since reconnecting didn't work, resetting the printer’s network settings can help:

On your printer’s touchscreen, go to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.

Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi:

Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.

Select your Wi-Fi and enter the password.

Reinstall the Printer Drivers

On your PC, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click your printer and Remove Device.

Download and install the latest HP Smart App or Full Feature Software from HP’s official website.

Follow the setup process to add the printer again.

Try an Alternate Connection

If the Wi-Fi connection still isn’t working:

Try connecting via USB to see if the scanner works.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (if you haven’t already) for an advanced check.

Give these a shot and let me know if you need more help!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
