We've had a HP laserjet  MFP M177fw printer for a long time and it has abruptly stopped connecting to the network. It will print if connected directly to the router but it won't detect the our network or allow a WPS connection. My computer still sees the printer but it's impossible to get anything to connect. Any solution for this?

Welcome to the HP support community.

Perform a wireless network diagnostic test

1. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Setup button.

2. Select Network Setup, and then select Wireless Menu.

3. Select Run Network Test. The product prints a test page that shows test results.

Reduce interference on a wireless network

The following tips can reduce interference in a wireless network:

  • Keep the wireless devices away from large metal objects, such as ƭling cabinets, and other electromagnetic devices, such as microwaves and cordless telephones. These objects can disrupt radio signals.
  •  Keep the wireless devices away from large masonry structures and other building structures. These objects can absorb radio waves and lower signal strength.
  • Position the wireless router in a central location in line of sight with the wireless products on the network.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Sandy and thanks for your response. I have tried all your suggestions before posting here. The printer won't stay logged in and/or won't even detect our network even though it's been in the same place for several years and it is close to the router but not close enough to connect directly . The only way it will print is if it is directly connected to the router.  Until now it was  a functioning air printer. Any suggestions on how to fix that issue would be welcome. Perhaps there's a software update we've missed?

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.
