Can someone tell me how to print 4 photos on one page?

Welcome to the HP English Community --

The printer is unaware of what it is printing.

You have to configure the job using an application capable of completing the task.

HP Smart cannot do this in iOS (at least not at this writing).

You might find an "app for that" in the Apple app store.

Another solution:

Create a document - insert the images on the first page in the document arranged as you like them.

Once you have the document completed,

Sure - you can Export the document to PDF.

In that format, the photos already placed and ready,

HP Smart can certainly print the sheet of paper with your photos emplaced.

What else?

If you can get a hold of a Windows machine, printing more than one photo on a sheet of paper is easy -- there are several software programs and apps (including HP Smart for Windows) that can print more than one photo on a single sheet of paper.  Examples available on request.
