Hi @wj44333 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your printer not connecting to scan
Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue with your HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer not connecting to scan:
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can print a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to verify the connection.
Restart Devices:
- Restart your printer, computer, and Wi-Fi router. This can often resolve connectivity issues.
Update HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer. Check for updates in the app store (Microsoft Store or Apple App Store) and install them.
Reinstall HP Smart App:
- Uninstall the HP Smart app from your computer, then reinstall it from the official site or your app store. This can resolve any app-related issues.
Check Printer Status:
- Make sure the printer is powered on and not in sleep mode. Check the control panel for any error messages.
Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
- Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software that might be blocking the connection between the printer and your computer.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can automatically detect and fix common printing and scanning issues.
Check Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check for firmware updates using the HP Smart app.
Reset Network Settings:
- If issues persist, you may consider resetting the printer’s network settings. You can usually do this through the printer’s settings menu under Network.
Try Another Scanning Method:
- If you're trying to scan through the HP Smart app, try scanning directly from the printer's control panel or using another scanning app to see if the problem persists.
