Hi @Cylie,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, you can still use your printer even if the warranty has expired. The expiration of the warranty affects support and repair services but does not impact the functionality of your printer itself. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve common printing issues regardless of warranty status:
1. Check Printer Connections
Ensure Power Supply:
- Verify that the printer is plugged in and turned on. Check for any error messages or lights on the printer’s display.
Verify Connectivity:
- If you’re using a wired connection, make sure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
- If you’re using a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
2. Restart Devices
Restart Printer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for about 60 seconds, then turn it back on.
Restart Computer:
- Restart your computer to resolve any temporary software or connectivity issues.
3. Check Printer Status
Print Queue:
- On Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click on your printer and select See what's printing. Clear any stuck print jobs.
- On macOS: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Select your printer and click Open Print Queue. Clear any stuck print jobs.
Printer Settings:
- Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer. On Windows, right-click your printer in Devices and Printers and select Set as default printer. On macOS, do the same in Printers & Scanners.
4. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
Download Drivers:
- Go to the printer manufacturer’s website (e.g., HP, Epson, Canon) and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
Install Drivers:
- Follow the instructions to install or reinstall the drivers. This can resolve issues related to outdated or corrupted drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
