HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP ENVY 6055 printer will not connect to my Wi-Fi after changing the name of my Wi-Fi. I have troubleshooted through the HP website and still cannot connect. Half of their suggestions involve buttons I don't have on my printer or on my router. I have uninstalled my printer from HP Smart. How can I get my printer connected to the Wi-Fi?

Hi @6369449,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP ENVY 6055 printer to your Wi-Fi after changing the network name, follow these steps.

Using the HP Smart App

Reset the Network Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button (or the Wireless icon) and the Cancel button together for three seconds.
  • The Wireless light will start blinking, indicating that the printer's network settings have been reset.

Reinstall the Printer in HP Smart:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device.
  • Ensure your device is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to connect your printer to.
  • Click on the Add Printer button.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer. The app should detect the printer in setup mode and guide you through connecting it to the Wi-Fi network.

Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

If your router supports WPS, you can use this method to connect your printer:

Prepare the Printer:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for three seconds until the Wireless light starts blinking.

Activate WPS on the Router:

  • Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your router. The WPS button may be labeled or indicated with a symbol that looks like two arrows forming a circle.
  • The Wireless light on the printer will stop blinking and remain solid once the connection is successful.

Using the Printer's Control Panel

  1. Access the Wireless Setup Wizard:
    • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup (this could be a gear icon).
    • Select Network Setup or Wireless Settings.
    • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

Using a USB Cable (Temporary Setup)

Connect the Printer to Your Computer:

  • Use a USB cable to connect the printer to your computer.
  • Open the HP Smart app or the printer software on your computer.

Configure Wireless Settings:

  • In the HP Smart app, add your printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Once connected, you can disconnect the USB cable.

These steps should help you reconnect your HP ENVY 6055 printer to your Wi-Fi network

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @6369449,

Thank you for your response,

If your HP ENVY 6055 printer is not connecting to Wi-Fi and the wireless light does not flash after holding the button, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Check Wireless Settings: Make sure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Ensure that the wireless signal is strong enough for the printer to connect.
  • Verify Wi-Fi Direct Mode: Wi-Fi Direct mode might interfere with regular Wi-Fi connections. Ensure that Wi-Fi Direct mode is turned off if you're trying to connect via your home Wi-Fi network.
  • Reset Network Settings: On your printer, go to the Wireless or Network settings menu. Look for an option to restore network defaults or reset wireless settings. Perform this reset and then try connecting again.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware can fix bugs and improve connectivity.
  • Reconfigure Wi-Fi Connection: If possible, remove the existing wireless connection settings from your printer and set up the Wi-Fi connection again from scratch. Use the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app to do this.
  • Check Router Settings: Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is not blocking the printer from connecting. Check router settings such as MAC address filtering or firewall settings that might prevent the printer from joining the network.
  • HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart app installed on your mobile device or computer, use it to troubleshoot connectivity issues. The app can often provide more detailed information and troubleshooting steps specific to your printer model.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the Wi-Fi connectivity issue with your HP ENVY 6055 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

There is no menu to reset my network settings on my display-less printer. The printer never shows up in HP Smart.
