OfficeJet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My OfficeJet Pro 8600 All-In-One is on our home wifi network, same segment as this Windows 7 PC I am trying to see it from, but it seems like no matter what I try, they cannot see each other. A Windows 10 PC on the same network, in the same room not 4 feet away, which is connected via ethernet cable, has no trouble printing to this same printer. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is useless as it cannot see the printer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a number of times, rebooting the computer, power cycling the printer, lots of troubleshooting... it's driving me batty at this point. My ISP was no help in troubleshooting the local wifi network despite it being their equipment-- they advised me to talk to HP Support. HP's been no help, they're apparently closed at this point. I'd be just as happy to set the whole thing on fire at this point. but it's my father in law's printer and computer, so... anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

@AlexG4, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print wirelessly from the Win 7 computer. Let us try these steps:

Check if the computer can detect other devices on the wireless network.

Check for any pending Windows updates.

Restart the printer, router, and the PC

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • If an ethernet cable is connected to the printer, disconnect it. Wireless will not work if the ehternet cable is connected.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
