HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

My printer printed this information form. It says More than one access point/wireless router has been found that matches your wireless network name (SSID). If this is not intended, your HP printer may connect to the wrong wireless network.

How do I change this without changing my network name?

Hi @papergirl123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To address the issue of your HP printer connecting to the wrong wireless network without changing your network name (SSID), you’ll need to ensure that your printer is connected to the correct access point or router. Here’s how you can manage and change the wireless network settings on your HP printer:

Steps to Change the Wireless Network on Your HP Printer

1. Access the Printer’s Control Panel

  • On the Printer: Use the printer’s control panel or touchscreen to navigate to the wireless settings. The exact steps may vary depending on your printer model.

2. Navigate to Wireless Settings

  • Menu Options: Look for a menu option labeled Wireless, Network Setup, or Wi-Fi Setup.
  • Wireless Setup Wizard: Choose the Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Setup Wizard option. This will guide you through the process of selecting and connecting to a wireless network.

3. Select the Correct Network

  • Scan for Networks: The printer will scan for available wireless networks.
  • Choose the Network: Select the correct network from the list of available networks. Ensure that it matches your intended access point or router.

4. Enter Network Credentials

  • Password Entry: Enter the network password (WPA/WPA2 key) for the selected network. Ensure you enter the correct password to establish a connection.

5. Confirm Connection

  • Test Connection: Once connected, the printer should display a confirmation message indicating that it is connected to the network.
  • Print Network Configuration Page: Optionally, you can print a network configuration page from the printer’s settings menu to verify the connection details and ensure it’s connected to the correct network.

Additional Steps if Necessary

Update Network Settings via HP Smart App

  1. Download HP Smart App: If you haven’t already, download the HP Smart app from the HP website or your device’s app store.
  2. Add Printer: Open the app, and follow the prompts to add your printer.
  3. Change Network Settings: Use the app to update the network settings for your printer. This can be useful if you encounter difficulties using the printer’s control panel.

Manually Connect to the Desired Network

Access Printer’s IP Address:

  • Print a network configuration page to find the printer’s IP address.
  • Enter the IP address into a web browser to access the printer’s embedded web server (EWS).

Change Wireless Settings:

  • In the EWS, go to the Network or Wireless section.
  • Update the wireless network settings to connect to the correct SSID and enter the correct password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
