DeskJet 3762
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Brand new DeskJet 3762 does not connect to wifi. It is currently about two feet from the router

Unboxed it, Installed cartridges and paper as per instructions. Visited 123.hp.com and downloaded HP Smart to my PC. Setup instructions tell me to find the HP folder in my start menu and click on the printer; no icon for the printer appears in my HP folder, only a former printer (Envy 4500) and HP Photo Creations. Uninstall the Envy 4500, restart Windows. This does not cause the DeskJet to appear.

HP Smart, after some exploration of different options, instructs me to download and run "Print and Scan Doctor". This program asks me to connect a USB cable to the printer to complete WiFi setup, I see a message "Please wait while we complete the USB connection", then I see a Windows error message saying "Print and Scan Doctor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Same error happens every time I try.

Your insight much appreciated!
