Hi @vinny55

Welcome to the HP support community.

The HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer is compatible with Wi-Fi networks, but there are some important details to consider regarding its use with 5GHz networks.

Compatibility with 5GHz Wi-Fi

  • The HP ENVY 5530 supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi but does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks directly.
    • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi is the standard frequency for most older printers and devices, and it is typically better at covering longer distances and penetrating walls.
    • 5GHz Wi-Fi is faster but has a shorter range and may not be compatible with all older devices, including some printers like the HP ENVY 5530.

Solution for Using the HP ENVY 5530 on 5GHz Wi-Fi:

If you have a dual-band router that supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies, here are your options:

Connect the printer to the 2.4GHz network: Your router likely has two network names (SSID), one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz. When setting up the printer, make sure to connect it to the 2.4GHz network (the one that is compatible).

Adjust Router Settings (if necessary): Some routers allow you to create separate network names (SSIDs) for each frequency band (2.4GHz and 5GHz). This way, you can explicitly connect the printer to the 2.4GHz network and your other devices to the 5GHz network.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
