Well, yes, if you want to have it ready to use - the printer must be plugged in and switched on.
Caveat: Printer may switch itself off if not connected to the network and Auto-Off option is set.

Printer will, when plugged in and in a "low power" state, wake up on occasion to perform necessary ink system maintenance that keeps the ink system healthy and the printer ready to use.
