Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I would really appreciate any advice, have searched and watched videos / answers online. I am unable to contact HP directly because although I have the printer serial no, I can't locate its model number - tried every number on the labels on the back of the printer - not a great system, HP!

I am trying to install my working Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer as a printer on a new HP laptop (windows 11). Although the printer is found, I am prompted for a WPS pin and this is not displaying on the printer screen or printing on the HP network configuration sheet when printed - as videos suggest it should. I have the original printer manuals and software installation cd but not the box. I have identified the printer serial no MY47RD737J (although it's not labelled as such,) but not the model number - label on back says regulatory model number SDGOB-0303-02 but HP support didn't like that or any other number from the back of the printer.  The nearest match I found to install software from the laptop by searching was for HP Photosmart 2700 which failed....

The printer is connected wirelessly to my home network, I just need to get the laptop to recognise the printer - no other printers installed.

Many thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Charlie

Hi @Charlie365

1. Photosmart 2710 is somehow old printer and maybe does not have compatibility with WPS network protocol, only new printers are designed to work with that.

2. If you want to connect a wireless network, check that printer is connected to a 2.4 Ghz network

3. Also check that laptop computer is connected to the very same network 2.4 Ghz.

4. You can use HP Print Doctor to check driver install

@FerRX - thank you for your various suggestions - much appreciated and will try them! Take your point about the printer's age 😉 but am reluctant to junk what has been an excellent printer - Charlie

Hi @FerRX - have successfully printed from the Photosmart 2710 after using your link to HP Print Doctor - many thanks! Has not worked for the scanner (even with a device restart) but will try reloading the original software from cd. Many thanks! Charlie365
