Common problems for Connectivity Issues

HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer

I have had to reinstall Smart and the printer a couple of times as it worked fine but I had to change the password to my internet and the printer would not reset or prompt me to change the password.  Finally figured out how to get the PW changed and connected to the internet again.  All settings appear correct - it should work.  Now the printer shows ready, but when I send a job the status changes to asleep and it wont wake up when a job is sent.  I have tried turning the printer off then on - same result.  I have been trying things for more than a month with no success.  I have cleared the spooling, but I had to turn off the spooling to get that to work and then could not get it turned back on, but restarted the computer a couple of times and that seems corrected.  As an aside, I went to Walmart and bought a $39 Canon printer which I have used elsewhere and, while I like the 6498 I have wasted hours of my time trying to get it to work........

I see that you are facing an issue with connecting your Printer to the network.

Please follow the steps below to connect your printer to the network again.

 

1) Uninstall the HP smart app by click on this link, Restart the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions.

 

2) Enable Wi-Fi setup mode: When you turn on your printer for the first time, it is temporarily placed in Wi-Fi setup mode so that it can be discovered during setup. Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information.

 

3) Refer to this link to use the HP smart app on your phone/tablet/PC to add a printer.

 

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
