Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 6968 printer that I would like to be able to print from an Apple Iphone 12. I've read various articles that have said this printer is not compatible with Apple Airprint and other articles said it is. Which is correct? Depending on the answer would I be able to connect the Iphone to the printer using a USB cable with an adapter? Again, I'm getting conflicting answers if this will work. I contacted Apple and they said to contact HP. I look forward to anyone's comments. Thanks
