Hi @Dagmar11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the printer Offline.

If your HP 8710 printer shows as "offline" and experiences significant delays in printing, here are several troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Printer Status

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that the USB or Ethernet cable is securely connected if using a wired connection. If using Wi-Fi, confirm that the printer is connected to the correct network.

Step 2: Set Printer to Online

Open Control Panel:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Select Printer:

  • Right-click on your HP 8710 printer and select See what's printing.

Set Online:

  • In the print queue window, click on the Printer menu and make sure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.

Step 3: Restart Print Spooler

Stop Print Spooler Service:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find the Print Spooler service, right-click it, and select Stop.

Clear the Print Queue:

  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in this folder.

Start Print Spooler Service:

  • Go back to the Services window, right-click on Print Spooler, and select Start.

Step 4: Update Printer Drivers

Visit HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for the HP 8710.

Install Drivers:

  • Follow the instructions to install the latest drivers.

Kindly check the next steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Dagmar11,

Please find the next steps below.

Step 5: Check Network Connection (if using Wi-Fi)

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can do this via the printer's control panel under Network settings.

Restart Router:

  • If using a wireless connection, try restarting your router.

Forget and Reconnect:

  • If issues persist, consider forgetting the network on the printer and reconnecting to it.

Step 6: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor:
  2. Run the Tool:
    • Open the tool and follow the prompts to diagnose and fix printing issues.

Step 7: Check for Windows Updates

  1. Update Windows:
    • Make sure your Windows operating system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Step 8: Try Printing from Another Device

  • If possible, try printing from a different computer or mobile device to determine if the issue is specific to your original device.

Additional Considerations

  • Firewall/Antivirus: Check if your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the printer. You may need to configure them to allow printer communication.
  • Network Configuration: Ensure that the printer and your computer are on the same network and that there are no IP address conflicts.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the "offline" issue with your HP 8710 printer. If the problem persists, consider contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
