Hi @BEME2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw is unable to connect to Wi-Fi, and your router does not have a WPS button. No worries — you can still connect your printer to the wireless network manually.

Option 1: Connect Using the Printer Control Panel

  1. Turn on the printer and make sure it’s not in sleep mode.
  2. On the printer’s control panel, go to:
    • Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
  3. The printer will search for available networks.
  4. Select your Wi-Fi network name (SSID).
  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password using the on-screen keyboard.
  6. Wait for the printer to confirm connection.

This method works even if your router does not support WPS.

Option 2: Use the HP Smart App (Recommended by HP)

  1. Download the HP Smart app from HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store.
  2. Open the app and sign in or create an HP account.
  3. Tap “+” to add a new printer.
  4. If your printer is not found, reset Wi-Fi setup mode:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds until the wireless light blinks.
  5. Follow the app’s instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi.
