Hi @PeteDaPirate51,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Deskjet 2600 is not connecting to Wi-Fi or directly to your mobile device,

here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Ensure Printer is in Setup Mode

  • Reset the Printer: If it’s not in setup mode, reset your printer by holding down the Wi-Fi button for about 10 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking. This puts the printer back in setup mode.

2. Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Confirm Wi-Fi Network: Make sure your printer and mobile device are on the same Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz, as the printer may not support 5 GHz).
  • Restart Router: Power cycle your router and modem to ensure a fresh connection.
  • Move Closer to the Router: Ensure the printer is within range of the router, especially if the signal is weak.

3. Use HP Smart App to Connect  HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Reinstall HP Smart App: Sometimes a fresh installation can resolve connectivity issues. Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart App on your mobile device.
  • Follow Setup: Open the HP Smart App, tap Set up a new printer, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

4. Wireless Setup via Control Panel

  • On the printer’s control panel, press the Wireless button and the Information button simultaneously. This should print a Network Configuration Page. Check if it is connected to the Wi-Fi network correctly.

5. Try Direct Wireless Connection (Wi-Fi Direct)

  • Enable Wi-Fi Direct: If connecting to your Wi-Fi network is problematic, use Wi-Fi Direct as an alternative to connect directly to your mobile device.
    • Go to Settings on the printer, and enable Wi-Fi Direct.
    • On your mobile device, go to the Wi-Fi settings and select the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network. Once connected, use the HP Smart App to print.

6. Check the Printer’s Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Update Firmware: Make sure your printer is running the latest firmware. You can check for updates through the HP Smart App or by visiting the HP Support website.

7. Reset Printer’s Network Settings

  • If none of the above works, reset the printer’s network settings to their default:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds, and then release them. The printer will reset its wireless settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
