HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer

Recently my HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer started waking up in the middle of the night making noise like it's scanning or printing but is not printing. Have to unplug it to make it stop. All the computers on the network are powered down. I've had the printer for a couple of years and this started about 3 months ago.

Hi @bozzo999,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer might be experiencing some technical issues that are causing it to behave unexpectedly. Here are a few steps you can take to try and troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs or glitches that cause issues like this.
  • Power Cycle: Since you mentioned unplugging the printer to make it stop, try performing a proper power cycle by turning it off using the power button (if available) and unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
  • Reset the Printer: Some printers have a reset option in their settings menu. Check your printer's manual or support website to see if there's a reset option and try resetting it to its factory defaults.
  • Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions: Even if it's not printing, there could be a paper jam or some other obstruction inside the printer that's causing it to make noise. Open up the printer and check for any stuck paper or debris.
  • Check Network Settings: Ensure that there are no scheduled print jobs or tasks in the printer's queue that could be triggering it to wake up and make noise.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to identify and resolve the issue with your HP ENVY 6055e printer waking up in the middle of the night.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
