Hi @Ant121,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY Photo 6255 is getting stuck during the boot-up process, it could be due to several issues. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshooting and resolving the problem:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Press the power button to turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.:
- Leave the printer unplugged for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.
- Press the power button to turn the printer back on.
2. Check for Obstructions
- Open the printer’s access door and check for any obstructions or paper jams.
- Ensure there is no foreign material inside that could be preventing proper startup.
- Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and not causing any blockage.
3. Perform a Printer Reset
- Printer Reset:
- While the printer is powered on, press and hold the Power button and Cancel button simultaneously for about 15 seconds.
- Release the buttons and wait for the printer to reset and attempt to restart.
4. Update Printer Firmware
Firmware Update:
- If the printer can boot but not fully load, check for firmware updates:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Search for your printer model (HP ENVY Photo 6255).
- Download and install any available firmware updates.
- If you can connect to the printer via HP Smart or another software, check for and install firmware updates from there.
5. Check for Error Codes:
- If the printer display shows any error codes or messages, note them down.
- Refer to the printer’s manual or HP Support website for specific troubleshooting steps related to those error codes.
6. Disconnect and Reconnect
- If the printer is connected via USB, try a different USB port on your computer.
- If connected via network, ensure that the network connection is stable and properly configured.
- If the printer is stuck due to network settings, you might need to reconfigure the network settings through the printer’s control panel.
7. Check for Overheating:
- Ensure the printer is in a well-ventilated area and not overheating.
- Allow the printer to cool down for a while and then try turning it on again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
