HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Good morning!
I have a ENVY-5530 printer for years now, but now I want to access the EWS to change some security settings, but i starts asking me for a username and password. I've never set a password, and the documentation doesn't state a standard username.
I've searched the internet and forum for answers and tried for username as Admin, admin, administrator and password Blank or admin of Admin
All of the options do not work, and finally I get locket out of the printer for to many wrong responses (I think)
Factory resets i've done a few, also the hidden menu one. But still I can't access the EWS

How can i regain control (access) of my printer again?

Hi @Speedbit

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Good morning! If you're having trouble accessing the Embedded Web Server (EWS) of your HP ENVY 5530 printer and have tried various username/password combinations without success, here are some additional steps you can try:

1. Default Username and Password

  • Username: admin
  • Password: Leave this field blank or try 1234.

If those don’t work, you can try the following:

2. Perform a Full Network Reset

  • Resetting the network settings can sometimes clear any saved passwords or configurations:
    1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup (the gear icon).
    2. Select Network.
    3. Choose Restore Network Defaults.
  • This will reset your network settings, so you will need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network afterward.

3. Factory Reset the Printer

If you haven't already, you can try a complete factory reset:

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to Setup.
  2. Select Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  3. Choose Restore Factory Defaults. Confirm the selection.

4. Access EWS Using IP Address

  1. Find the printer's IP address:
    • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network > View Network Status.
  2. Enter the IP address into a web browser’s address bar on your computer or device.
  3. This should bring up the EWS login page. Use the default credentials mentioned earlier.

5. Check for Lockouts

If you have entered the wrong credentials multiple times, the printer may temporarily lock you out. If you suspect this, wait for a few minutes (up to 30) before trying to log in again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for the Help!
I've tried every step of your solution, but the first few times it did not work.
Then I realized it is software we're working with, and now did every single step, but with the adding recycling power to the printer between reset steps.
Then it worked after I had reset the network settings, powered down the printer, wait for a minute, power on the printer and then did a WPS install of the WiFi again.

Now the question for the login isn't raised anymore and I can access all of the EWS setting again!
