Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Every time I need to print, my printer is either offline, or has changed to "Scan only" mode. After doing some research, these seem like common issues with HP printers. I DO NOT want to spend one more minute troubleshooting, updating drivers, installing more software to fix the printer, or communicating with HP support just to be told to reset my router (never works). I am here to ask: Does anyone who has had these issues have any recommendations on printers that can print reliably?

Welcome to the HP Community.

Except to find someone who wants to jump on the bandwagon of "Not doing any more work to fix this",

You might be asking the "recommend any printers?" question in the wrong place.

Why?  Our focus is primarily to help people with the equipment they have and want to use.

Sure, older printers sometimes need to be replaced, some networks are not stable or need work, some projects are just more work than seems reasonable.  I get that you are "done".

What might have been going on?

The printer you have is not old and is fully supported by software and drivers.

Unless it is physically broken, the printer should be capable of staying connected on a properly configured network.

What if not broken?

One example,

Printers in this series, even the more modest models, are capable of connecting to either frequency 2.4GHz or 5GHz - but not at the same time.

Example

Product Specifications for the HP ENVY 6010 All-in-One Printer (5SE20B)

Connectivity

Ports
1 Hi-Speed USB 2.0; 1 Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual band)
Wireless capability
Yes, built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n

IF you are running a dual band network,

The router must be configured to support the printer, in other words.

What else?

The problem, still assuming the printer is not actually broken, might be the connection type.

Assuming the router is capable, updated, strong enough to do the job, and configured properly, the connection type between the printer and the computer might benefit from being changed.  For example, TCP/IP works better in some cases, as might assigning the printer its own manual / static IP address.

Once the connection is stable, it is true that sometimes the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software has to be reinstalled.

All said and done,

We are not here to force you to do anything.
