HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw

Laser Jet Pro M252dw pauses when connecting from Mac running Sonoma 14.6.1. Wireless connection is strong; I have run through all trouble shooting remedies found on line as well as reinstalled from scratch using updated drivers. Still pausing. I can print from my phones but not my mac. Was working fine yesterday. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi @Moe1948, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw printer pausing when printing from your Mac running macOS Sonoma 14.6.1. Given that the printer works with your phones but not your Mac, and considering the troubleshooting steps you've already undertaken, here are some additional suggestions that might help resolve the issue:

Update macOS: Ensure your Mac is running the latest version of macOS. As of now, the most recent stable release is macOS 14.7.2. Updating your system can resolve compatibility issues.

Add Printer Using IP Address: Instead of connecting via Bonjour, try adding the printer using its IP address. This method can bypass potential communication problems between Bonjour and macOS Sonoma.

  • On your printer, print a Network Configuration Page to find its IP address.
  • On your Mac, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
  • Select the IP tab and enter the printer's IP address.
  • Ensure the correct driver is selected, then add the printer.

Reset Printing System: You've mentioned resetting the printing system, but ensure you follow these steps precisely:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select "Reset printing system...".
  • Confirm the reset, which will remove all printers.
  • Restart your Mac.
  • Add the printer again using the IP address method described above.

Check for HP Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date.

Verify Printer Queue Status: Sometimes, the print queue can get stuck.

  • Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click "Open Print Queue...".
  • If the queue is paused, click the "Resume" button.
  • Clear any pending print jobs and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
