@Areljay35, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Laserjet Pro MFP 283!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw is constantly displaying an "offline" status on your Ethernet connection, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Network Connection

  1. Verify Ethernet Cable: Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected between the printer and the router or switch.
  2. Check Router Port: Make sure the router port where the printer is connected is functioning properly. Test with another device to confirm.
  3. Network Connectivity: Confirm your network is working by using other devices to access the internet or local network resources.

Restart Devices

  1. Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for 15 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Restart Router: Unplug the router’s power cord, wait for 15 seconds, and reconnect it. This can help reset network connections and resolve intermittent issues.

Restore Network Settings

  1. Reset Printer Network Settings:
    • For printers with a touchscreen control panel:
      • On the control panel, open the Wireless or Setup menu.
      • Select Network Setup or Settings.
      • Select Restore Network Settings.
    • For printers without a touchscreen control panel, use control panel buttons to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer.

Ethernet Light Indicators

  1. Check Ethernet Indicators:
    • Link Light: Ensure the green light on the Ethernet port is steady.
    • Activity Light: Confirm the orange light is blinking. This indicates active network communication.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
