Hi @MMCC74,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To improve the stability of your HP LaserJet printer M110w's Wi-Fi Direct connection, especially when you don't have Wi-Fi onsite and rely on Wi-Fi Direct for printing, here are several steps you can take:
1. Ensure Firmware and Driver Updates
- Printer Firmware: Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Updating the firmware can resolve bugs and improve connectivity.
- Device Drivers: Ensure that the drivers for your printer are up to date on your computer or mobile device. Updated drivers can improve compatibility and performance.
2. Proximity and Interference
- Positioning: Place your printer and the device (computer or mobile device) as close as possible to each other to strengthen the Wi-Fi Direct signal.
- Reduce Interference: Keep the printer away from other electronic devices that may cause interference, such as microwaves, cordless phones, or other Wi-Fi devices.
3. Restart and Reset
- Printer: Periodically restart your printer to refresh its connection. Turn it off, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Devices: Similarly, restart your computer or mobile device to clear any temporary glitches in the Wi-Fi connection.
4. Check Wi-Fi Direct Settings
- Printer Settings: Access the printer's control panel or web interface (if available) to check the Wi-Fi Direct settings. Ensure Wi-Fi Direct is enabled and that the settings are configured correctly.
- Connection Mode: Some printers allow you to switch between different Wi-Fi Direct modes (automatic vs. manual connection). Experiment with these settings to see if one provides more stable connectivity.
5. Use a Static IP Address (Advanced)
- Assign Static IP: If your printer supports it, assign a static IP address to the printer within your device's Wi-Fi Direct settings. This can sometimes provide a more stable connection compared to dynamic IP assignment.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
