Hi @Quay_Mills

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP LaserJet M140w is stuck at the IP address retrieval stage, which could indicate a network issue or a printer configuration problem. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

1. Restart Everything

  • Turn off your printer, router, and computer.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
  • Try reconnecting the printer.

2. Reset Printer Network Settings

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the light blinks.
  • Press and hold the Cancel button for 5 seconds until the wireless light is steady.
  • Try reconnecting using the HP Smart app.

3. Use the Wireless Setup Wizard

  • On the printer’s control panel, press the Wireless button.
  • Select Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

4. Assign a Static IP Address

  • If your printer is struggling to obtain an IP address, manually assign one.
  • You can find steps on HP’s support forum.

5. Check HP’s Official Troubleshooting Guide

  • HP has a dedicated page for Wi-Fi connection issues here.

6. Try WPS Connection (If Supported)

  • Press the WPS button on your router.
  • Within 2 minutes, press the Wireless button on the printer.

Let me know if any of these steps help!
