HP Officejet 4630

It started out as a printer error:  0XB8000530.  I tried unplugging from power source then repowering but the error code didn't go away.  I would press the power button but the printer would power down and not come back on.  I eventually found a potential solution to resolve (came here to find it) by removing then re-installing the printer cartridges, but by that time the printer would no longer power up and there is nothing I can do with it.

So now the questions:

  • If the printer will no longer power up, will it be more expensive to get it serviced than it will to replace it?
  • I recently bought about $100 worth of 61XL inkjet cartridges.  Is there an HP printer available that uses them or should I go ahead and get the printer repaired in order to be able to use these cartridges?

I appreciate the assist in this matter.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting a 0XB8000530 printer error, I am glad to assist you.

Is the printer connected to the wall power outlet?

If not, follow these steps:-

Perform a power reset, reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

Let me know how it goes.
