Officejet 5740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since relocating my Officejet 5740 I cannot connect the printer to my laptop. The printer itself states that it is receiving WIFI, but when I try to set up the network connection for my Lenovo and the printer it fails. I've also attempted to install the printer on a MBP and a Dell to no avail.

I have tried all of the following solutions:

-uninstalling (restarting the laptop) then reinstalling drivers

-factory resetting the printer

-attempted to use HP Print and Scan Doctor but let's face it--it's useless 😒

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I cannot troubleshoot the connection issue my only option will be to utilize the printer as a giant paperweight.

Thanks in advance!

@pho3nixr1sing, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To reconfigure the printer, follow the steps from the document HP Printers - No Connection after Router or Wi-Fi Settings Change.

Additionally, refer to the document Connect to a Wireless HP Printer for help.

If you still have issues, use the guided troubleshooter Troubleshooting | Wireless Printing Center for instruction to isolate and resolve the issue.

Alternatively, try adding the printer using the TCP/IP address-

1.  Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2.  Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3.   elect “Add a printer or scanner“.

4.  Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5.   Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6.   select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7.  Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.

8.  Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
