Hi there!
trying to set up my printer. I’ve set it up before and used it, so I know what I’m doing, however recently moved and now have a new internet provider & I am trying to connect to print.
I have tried using both an iPhone with the latest iOS updates, as well as an iPad Pro. I have restarted all devices and the printer as well and receive the same error message when trying to complete set up. I’ve never had this error before.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi @alesewilson,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble reconnecting your HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One Printer after changing your internet provider. Since you’ve already restarted your devices and the printer, let’s try a few more steps to resolve the issue:
Check Network Settings:
- Ensure that your new Wi-Fi network is working properly with other devices.
- Verify that your printer is within range of your new router and that the signal is strong.
Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- On your printer, navigate to the Setup or Network menu.
- Look for an option to restore network settings or reset Wi-Fi settings and select it.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Follow the prompts to add a new printer and select your Smart Tank 7301.
- When prompted, connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network.
Update HP Smart App:
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your iOS devices.
Check for Printer Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- If possible, connect your printer to your computer via USB and use the HP Smart app or HP Support Assistant to check for any firmware updates for your printer.
Use HP Wireless Setup Wizard:
- You can also try using the HP Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer’s control panel. This may help you connect directly to your new network.
Clear HP Smart App Cache:
- If you're still having issues, try clearing the cache of the HP Smart app or reinstalling it on your iOS devices.
