Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have an 8600 pro all in one printer. Although it had been working fine until a couple of months ago, it began showing the printer was offline. I did all of the diagnostics, restarts, etc. The most recent attempt was to "hide" the printer from the hp app, then to reinstall it. The printer will  come up but when I choose the icon/picture with my printer, I receive language that states the printer must be on, then to touch ok. The printer is on. I click "ok" and it does the whole scenario again, again NOT noticing that the printer is actually on. What do I  do?

Hi @monkeybit,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the HP app is not properly recognizing your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 All-in-One printer despite it being on and connected. Here's a series of troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check the Printer’s Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your device (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
  • If you're using Wi-Fi, try printing a network configuration report from the printer's control panel to verify the connection.

Restart the Printer and Router:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it for a few seconds. Then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Restart your router to ensure the network is working properly.

Reinstall the Printer in the HP App:

  • In the HP app, try removing the printer if it is still listed.
  • After removing it, restart your device and the printer.
  • Re-add the printer in the app by selecting "Add Printer" and ensure that the correct printer is listed.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if your printer firmware is up to date by visiting the HP website for your printer model or through the HP app.
  • If there’s a firmware update available, apply it.

Check for IP Address Conflicts:

  • Make sure the printer's IP address hasn’t changed or caused a conflict. You can print a network report from the printer to verify the IP address.
  • If necessary, assign a static IP address to the printer via the printer's settings to ensure it stays the same.

Check Your Device's Permissions:

  • On your device, ensure that the HP app has the necessary permissions to detect printers on the network.
  • Also, check that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the connection between the printer and the app.

Test with HP Smart Software:

  • If you're still having issues with the HP app, try using the HP Smart software to see if it can detect the printer. This can sometimes work better in recognizing devices on the network.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you might want to consider resetting the printer’s network settings and setting it up again from scratch to ensure it's properly connected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
