HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer
iOS

I’m receiving a password error, but the password is correct. I tried the reset and unplug method and that didn’t work either.

Did anyone find a solution to this kind of problem?

Im only able to print from my phone by connecting to the computer’s WiFi and using the app.

Hi @DimesPrints,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer isn’t connecting to WiFi and you’re receiving a password error despite entering the correct password, here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Double-Check WiFi Password

  • Ensure the WiFi password is correct by testing it on another device like a phone or laptop.
  • Remember, WiFi passwords are case-sensitive, so check for capitalization errors.

Reset Printer Network Settings

  • On the printer, press the Wireless button or Setup button (depending on the model).
  • Navigate to Restore Network Defaults (usually found under the Wireless or Network Settings menu) and confirm.
  • Once reset, reconnect the printer to your WiFi.

Reconnect the Printer to WiFi

  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer:
    • Go to the printer’s Settings > Wireless > Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Follow the steps to select your WiFi network and enter the password.

Check Router Settings

  • Ensure your router is set to 2.4GHz, as some printers cannot connect to 5GHz networks.
  • Disable MAC address filtering on the router (if enabled).

Update Printer Firmware

  • Download and install the latest firmware for the printer:
    • Visit HP's official website and search for your printer model.
    • Download and install any available firmware updates.

Use the HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart App on your phone or computer.
  • Follow the prompts to set up the printer on WiFi. The app can often bypass connectivity issues and guide you through setup.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Assign a Static IP Address:

  • Go to your router’s admin page and find the printer in the list of connected devices.
  • Assign a static IP address to the printer.
  • Then, reconnect the printer to the WiFi.

Temporary Direct Connection:

  • If WiFi continues to fail, you can print directly using the printer’s WiFi Direct feature:
    • Enable WiFi Direct on the printer.
    • Connect your phone or computer to the printer's WiFi Direct network.
    • Use the HP Smart App or printer driver to send the print job.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
