My printer, which has been absolutley fine for a year, suddenly wont keep a connection via wifi. I have done all the steps they suggest, but it still wont work. (reset printer and router, which worked for 30 mins then the printers wifi connection went off again. Downloaded new drivers...again..nothing helped.

Any Help??

Hi @HillBetty,

I'd like to help!

To assist Better -

1.) Are the printer and computer connected to the same network?

2.) Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? If yes, make sure the dual-band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks.

3.) What is the distance between the router and the printer?

4.) Is there antivirus software installed on your computer?

5.)What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?

6.)Are you trying to connect the printer to the home or public network?

Keep me posted.

printer has been connected to the exact same network for over a year with no problems. it is a home network, and nothing has changed...no new router or passwords or anything. It was always fine. But just suddenly stopped connecting.

I have tried EVERY ruddy solution the useless help actions it suggests...to no avail. when searching for the router on the wifi setup wizard on the printer...it never finds it...it just keeps scanning and scanning.

the router is 2 meters away from the printer...and has not been moved in well over a year. so that isn't the issue.

yes there is anti virus software on the computer. who on earth doesn't have anti virus? that has also not changed in over a year, and has never picked up an issue with the printer or its settings.

it has been continuously blinking blue for weeks now. I have it directly plugged into my laptop, so i can print a few things off. but no other device can connect to it anymore. Which is a massive issue, considering i am tryi9ng to work from home.

sorry if i am being grumpy, but i have really had enough of this issue now...its seriously annoying me.

I do not know if my router is 2.4 or 5...and i dont know how i would find that information out either i am afraid. like i said....it was perfectly fine for over a year..then boom...nothing

The router frequency is printed on the router itself.

Please print and share the wireless test report

  1. Make sure there is U.S. letter or A4 size, unused, plain paper in the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon .

  3. Touch Tools.

  4. Swipe down the display, and then touch Web Access Report.

Let me know!

The wireless feature is disabled let's enable it first.

Follow the steps to enable the wireless feature on your printer.

--->touch Setup

--->scroll down to Network Setup

--->touch Wireless Settings

--->touch wireless and select enable/ON

Then try connecting the printer to the network by running the wireless setup wizard on the setup.

--->touch Setup

--->scroll down to Network Setup

--->Wireless setup wizard.

Let me know how this goes!

I have done that a million times, and it just gets stuck on the 'searching for router' and the blue light continuously flashes.

The only time it actually connects. Is for about 1 minute straight after you unplug and plug it back in. I have literally tried everything basically. Even uninstalling and reinstalling all the software I could! It stopped reading the ink at one point too, and that was a massive pain, as I couldn't even print anything over the USB connection. Even now, half the programs, and No websites won't connect to the printer...and that's on USB! The only program that connects properly is publisher!

As I have said several times, it was always fine... But suddenly stopped connecting.

My parents say they are having issues with their hp printer too, since Windows updated Windows 10...is there any link?

I am soo fed up with all of this!

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
