Hi @sametkoc,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP DeskJet 2630 printer model supports only 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and does not have the capability to connect to 5GHz networks. This limitation is quite common among older or budget-friendly printer models.
Here’s why you might be experiencing issues connecting your printer to the new 5G modem.
- Wi-Fi Band Compatibility: Your new 5G modem likely broadcasts two types of Wi-Fi signals: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The HP DeskJet 2630 can only connect to 2.4GHz networks. Since it doesn’t support 5GHz networks, it won’t be able to detect or connect to the 5G Wi-Fi signal from your modem.
- Network Settings: Sometimes, the 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks from the same modem/router can have different SSIDs (network names). Ensure you are trying to connect the printer to the correct 2.4GHz network and not accidentally attempting to connect to the 5GHz network.
To connect your HP DeskJet 2630 printer to your new 5G modem, you have a few options.
- Switch to 2.4GHz Mode: Most dual-band routers/modems allow you to set up separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks with different SSIDs (network names). Check your modem’s settings and configure the 2.4GHz network with a distinct SSID (different from the 5GHz network). Then, connect your printer to this 2.4GHz network.
- Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup): If your modem/router supports it, you can use the WPS feature to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network without entering a password. This method can simplify the connection process.
- Direct Connection (Wi-Fi Direct): Another option is to use the Wi-Fi Direct feature on your printer, which allows you to connect the printer directly to your mobile device or computer without needing a Wi-Fi network. This method can be handy if you don’t want to deal with network configurations.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
