Common problems for Connectivity Issues

HP ENVY Photo 6255 All-in-One Printer

My phone says that my printer is not available,  but my printer is on. And I went into Hp smart app and it says my printer is ready for printing. It still not printing.  I don't know what else to do it says it's connected to my wifi but it's not doing anything 😕

I understand you're experiencing a common issue where the printer appears to be connected but isn't responding to print requests. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about a minute before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Restart your phone.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure your printer and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If possible, move the printer closer to the router to ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal.

Re-add Printer in HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone.
  • Remove the printer from the app.
  • Add the printer again by following the on-screen instructions.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure there are no error messages or blinking lights on the printer's display.
  • Check if the printer has sufficient paper and ink/toner.

Print a Network Configuration Page:

  • Print a network configuration or test page directly from the printer’s control panel to ensure it’s connected to the network.
  • Refer to your printer's manual on how to print this page.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Reset the network settings on your printer and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network. This can often resolve connectivity issues.

Update Firmware and Software: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer and update it if needed.
  • Ensure the HP Smart app is updated to the latest version on your phone.

Check Printer Queues:

  • Sometimes print jobs can get stuck in the queue. Open the printer queue on your phone and clear any pending print jobs.

Test Printing from Another Device:

  • Try printing from another device, such as a computer or another phone, to determine if the issue is specific to your phone.

Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
