I can not print from my main computer. I can print from my cell phone and other computers in my office, just not from the one I always use. When I run the printer trouble shooter I can print test pages. I just can't print anything else. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have downloaded updated drivers. I have unplugged the printer and plugged it back in. I have ran all anti virus software (with help from norton) and restarted my computer. I still can not print from my computer. Any other suggestions besides throwing it through the wall?

Hi @DKJ23
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially since the printer works fine with other devices but refuses to cooperate with your main computer.
Since the troubleshooter allows test pages but regular printing fails, the issue likely lies with Windows settings or printer permissions rather than the printer itself.
Check Default Printer Settings
- Go to Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners.
- Ensure your HP Smart Tank Plus 551 is set as the default printer.
- If another printer is set as default, change it and try printing again.
Reset the Print Spooler Service
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type:
net stop spooler net start spooler - This clears stuck print jobs and resets the printing service.
Try Printing from a Different App
- If you’re printing from Word, Chrome, or Adobe, try a different program.
- Some apps may have corrupted print settings that block printing.
Check Printer Permissions
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer → Printer Properties → Security.
- Ensure your user account has Full Control permissions.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- HP has a diagnostic tool that can fix stubborn printing issues.
- Download it from HP’s support page and run a scan.
